Borinda lushuiensis
(syn. B. edulis Yunnan 4)
Introduced from Yunnan in the 1990's. A vigorous, non-running species with a dense, upright habit. Expected to be approximately 5 to 8m but has reached 12m in Cornwall. Powder blue culms with reddish brown sheaths. Similar in appearance to Borinda albocera. A superb specimen plant for the SW or other areas with little frost. Needs a very sheltered position and is best in light shade. As yet it is not known to have tolerated much less than -8C.and for this reason we only propagate very small numbers.
