Thamnocalamus spathiflorus subsp. nepalensis

An attractive form from Nepal with a more upright habit and larger leaves than the species.

New culms may have a waxy bloom and culm sheaths can be tinted with red.

Likely to reach about 4m. 

Less hardy than the type which has tolerated -18C.

Best grown in favouable areas such as the SW  in a sheltered site.

Suitable for sun or partial shade.

An attractive specimen plant with potential for screening.

Very limited availability.
