A hardy, non-running bamboo collected by Keith Rushforth in Yunnan at Zhongdian
to the Yangtze and introduced into the UK via Ness Botanic Gardens.
Very attractive fresh green foliage and
a dense, fairly upright or slightly arching habit.
Leaves are approximately 9cm long
x 1cm in width.
Culms are initially glaucous, later becoming green and should reach a height of
around 3 to 5m.
Found at 3225m and is believed to have tolerated at
least
-15C.
A very worthwhile introduction but has been slow to propagate and is ulikely to be avaiable until 2012.
