Borinda (Fargesia) yulongshanensis
A first rate introduction with tall, upright culms, initially
covered with a waxy bloom.Non-running clump for sun or light shade.
Small, narrow leaves.
Probably very hardy (-29C ?)
Height potentially around 15ft. (5m).
Collected by Keith Rushforth on the YuLong shan growing in coniferous woodland at around 3250m.
It seems quite vigorous when planted out but is slow to propagate and availability is consequently very limited.
An elegant specimen plant for woodland or light shade.
Fargesia utilis is more vigorous and might be a possible alternative if space is sufficient for its more arching habit.
