"Incense Bamboo"

A quickly maturing species, notable for its  highly distintive upright habit.

Lush deep green, tapering culms ageing to a matt creamy grey.

Upright habit and is often quick to mature in good soil.

Air channels in the rhizomes are beleived to be an adaptation for very wet ground.

Has tolerated -22C.

Height 4/7m. Substantial, tapering culms with a maximum diameter of 6cm..

 Spread of 1 to 2.5m in ten years.

New culms sometimes emit a distinctive scent when touched .

Limited availability.
