Phyllostachys iridescens
A vigorous species capable of forming tall
upright culms of considerable thickness, comparable with
Phyllostachys vivax.
Initially clump forming but mature plants are likely to begin to expand, so rhizome barrier is a desirable.
Rich green canes, emerging with colourful sheaths. The lower sections of older stems ofen have random vertical yellow or violet stripes .
Height around 7m but can be considerably more.
Culm diameter up to 8cm.
Has tolerated -18C.
Suitable for sun or light shade.
Highly effective as a tall specimen plant or screen.
