Phyllostachys nuda
A tall, exceptionally hardy running bamboo, quickly forming a grove or screen.
The culms appear almost black when young, later becoming dark green.
Height may exceed 15ft.(5m). Potential spread of 1 to 2.5m in ten years.
Plentiful small leaves giving a very delicate appearance.
Has withstood -26C.
Rapidly effective as a screen. Tolerant of trimming so can be shaped into a hedge if required but its vigorously spreading nature requires the installation of rhizome barrier unless it is in an escape proof location.
Phyllostachys nuda 'Localis'
Canes may be spotted or blotched purple-brown at base. Otherwise the same
as above.
Very limited availability.
