Phyllostachys viridi-glaucescens
A vigorous, hardy bamboo introduced from
China in 1846.The
upright glossy canes begin green and become yellowish with age.
The leaves
have pale undersides and the plentiful foliage is especially attractive when
disturbed by wind.
Spreading habit but not invasive.
Under good growing conditions in the south, height may exceed 30ft.(10m) with diameter of 5cm but in the north it may not achieve its full potential in terms of height or diameter.
In warmer districts it useful as a specimen plant, grove, or screen.
Has tolerated -22C.
