Erect habit and large leaves, usually displaying little marginal bleaching in winter. 

Height about 5ft.( 1.5m).  Leaves up to 25cm x 5cm.

Has tolerated -25C.

Slightly less vigorous than Sasa palmata but should only be used where its spreading nature will not be a problem.

An excellent groundcover and also effective in containers.

 Sun or light shade.
