Semiarundinaria fastuosa 'Viridis'
(Syn. Semiarundinaria fastuosa var. viridis)
A selected form of S. fastuosa in which the culms usually remain a rich green rather than maturing to brown or purple.
Grows taller than the type and has slightly smaller leaves. Other characteristics are similar.
. Normally develops slowly into a large clump or small grove.
Capable of running but readily controlled by occasional spadework or rhizome barrier.
A highly desirable specimen plant and very effective as a tall screen of 18ft. or more (6/8m). .
A hardy species which has tolerated -25C.
Slow to propagate and at times availablity may be limited.
