Semiarundinaria lubrica
(syn. Oligostachyum lubricum )
A dense upright bamboo forming a slowly expanding clump up to 20ft.(6m).
A Chinese species, still rare in cultivation but with great potential as a garden plant. Comparable with S. fastuosa but is slightly less tall.
The thick, well-spaced culms are deep green and their lower section is usually free of branches.
Has tolerated -22C.
Sun or light shade
Very effective as a specimen plant or a hardy, medium to tall screen.
Very limited availability at present.
